Nothing can stop Kapamilyas from speaking out. On the morning of July 9, ABS-CBN employees and supporters held rallies ahead of the House of Representatives summation of hearings regarding the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.

Vehicles covered with tarpaulins, balloons, and other décor were seen forming a caravan outside the ABS-CBN Corporation compound in Quezon City whereby motorists would travel to Batasang Pambansa Complex. Others were already gathered in front of Batasan Road gate, holding placards as policemen stood guard. Their messages ranged from existing, trending hashtags like #IbalikAngABSCBN and #VoteYesToABSCBN, to calls to save 11,071 workers from losing their jobs, defend press freedom, and insist that the network did not violate any law.

The network’s franchise renewal has been an ongoing subject of debate since the network’s shutdown on May 5, 2020. This wrap up of deliberations comes after lawmakers held 12 hearings wherein various allegations were made against ABS-CBN.
